Frequently asked questions.
How Much Does It Cost?
The answer largely depends on three factors: the type of Orangery (double roof or single roof), the size of the structure and number of glass frames and the finishing, such as double-glazed window frames or a thermal rock wool roof. As a rule of thumb, a structure will cost between £500-800 per square meter.
What Work Is Required?
Although an Orangery can be installed on grass, it is preferable to build a concrete base. It will guarantee a stronger resistance to weather conditions and an increased durability for the flooring that will be laid down. The overall project, from start to finish, will take approximately three months and the Orangery will be built in between one to three weeks depending on the size of the structure.
Do I Need Planning Permission?
An Orangery is classified as a temporary structure and therefore the answer is nearly always yes. Don’t despair though, the good news is that the overall process is fairly straightforward. If you meet some simple criteria, the planning permission should very much be a formality and the process will take between 8 to 12 weeks.
What Is Its Lifespan?
An Orangery requires very little maintenance, and can last for at least 20 years. Because the Orangery is a modular structure, bits of it can be replaced or updated as required. It can be extended if venues need a bigger space or reduced in size if necessary.
